The theory behind this is that your metabolism will get sped up more and more as small amounts of food are introduced over and over because it is kept running all day at an elevated rate, rather than the up and down revs that are part of just eating 3 big meals. Each meal should be about 200 calories, that way your total intake is about 1200 for the day, you will feel fuller longer, and you will lose weight.
In the past, when surgeons were readying their heart patients for surgery; they would put them on a quick weight loss diet that rivals all the fast ways to lose weight that are out there. This diet was referred to as the 5 day diet, and it is recommended now not only for heart patients, but for the general public as well also. The diet makes sure all the needed vitamins and minerals are included for optimum health, and the caloric intake is not more that 1500 calories per day. This is not a long term diet by any means, because it is drab----but for 5 days and a quick weight loss, it's a deal. An example meal would consist of black coffee, ? a grapefruit, plain tuna, and bananas----over and over.
Don't we have a ball chowing down on all that wonderful, calorie and fat laden food that surrounds us in our daily lives; and what a pain that most of those calories end up as fat around our middles or on our thighs. Sure is fun getting fat, but oh the trials and tribulations of getting rid of it. The plans are strictly for short term, but they work; and if they get you on the road to a slimmer you, then all the better.
