Looking at the English Premier League Action
This weekend's EPL action saw the "big 4" all win while the two pretenders to their dominance happened to be both defeated. Aston Villa came back to where everybody felt they would be, & Blackburn moved to where everybody hopes they'll stay.
The 1st large event of the season produced a classic in forward play and a headache in defensive action as Manchester United trounced Manchester City four-3 with Michael Owen coming up in the 6th minute of injury time to claim the victor after Micah Richards went walkabout rather than remaining with his guy.
Mark Hughes screamed foul, as the 4th referee had at first stated that the game might only have 4 minutes of injury play, 1 minute before City equalized in the final moment, incidentally, the celebration continued on for one minute.
Furthermore, the injury time played is a) at the referee's judgment and b) there for both organizations. I wonder if Hughes might offer the goal back if it were City that had scored?
For utter amusement the match was a delight to see, a true seven goal affair.
Defensively the game was a tragedy.
Shay Given executed 1 of the most terrible blunders of his playing days for Fletcher?s first, Rio Ferdinand had an utter blunder & was the distinct cause of two of City?s scores.
While Sir Alex Ferguson will be putting Edwin van der Sar into a kind of healing tank to get him back playing as swift as viable, lets just say that Ben Foster will not be Capello?s 1st selection in South Africa.
Peter Kenyon's leaving from his Chief Executive role at Chelsea comes as no surprise, Eugene Tenenbaum is not a buff of the ex-United director & he has been living on borrowed time ever since Scolari's dismissal.
There is a mass of in-fighting and back biting in the corridors of authority at Chelsea that may threaten to derail all of the franchise's good work.
