Hope and Glory: An admiring glance back at British family life throughout the first years of WW2 as seen through the eyes of a youthful boy to whom everything is an incredible venture. Cast includes Sarah Miles, David Hayman, Derrick O'Connor, Susan Wooldridge, Sammi Davis, Ian Bannen, Sebastian Rice-Edwards, Jean-Marc Barr, and Annie Leon. (113 minutes, 1987)

Deep Red: There's style to burn in pointless terror thriller with Hemmings on the trail of a sadistic psycho murderer. Showy, weird scenes set to beating rock soundtrack. Cast includes David Hemmings, Daria Nicolodi, Gabriele Lavia, Macha Meril, and Glauco Mauri. (98 minutes, 1975)

The Pawnbroker: This is a vital, preoccupying film. Steiger is phenomenal as Saul Nazerman, a Jewish pawnbroker in Harlem who lives in a protected environment with haunting memories of Nazi jail camps. Cast includes Rod Steiger, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Brock Peters, Jaime Sanchez, Thelma Oliver, Juano Hernandez, and Raymond St. Jacques. (116 minutes, 1965)

Lightning the White Stallion: An incredibly weak family fare with Rooney a prosperous guy whose racehorse is stolen. Cast includes Mickey Rooney, Isabel Lorea, Susan George, and Billy Wesley. (95 minutes, 1986)

Side Out: College kid comes to Southern California for a summer job removing tenants for his sleazy uncle although as an alternative ends up joining with one of his potential victims for the final shore volleyball match. The sand and sun are the lone highlights of this no brainer which alleges to be the first big screen film in regards to volleyball. Cast includes Thomas Howell, Peter Horton, Courtney Thome-Smith, Harley Jane Kozak, Christopher Rydell, Terry Kiser, Randy Stoklos, Sinjin Smith, and Kathy Ireland. (100 minutes, 1990)

Mrs. Brown, You've got a Lovely Daughter: A stupid reprieve for a film, with Herman and his Hermits heading for London to enter their greyhound in a race. In between the anticipation they harmonize some of their big hit songs. Cast includes Herman's Hermits, Stanley Holloway, Mona Washbourne, Sara Caldwell, and Javelin Percival. (100 minutes, 1984)

The Great New Wonderful: A striking drama, set one year after 9-11, concentrates on a variety of New Yorkers who either are battling to handle their emotions in regards to that atrocious night or in reference to their lives as if nothing had occurred. They contain a couple with a dysfunctional child, an older lady snared in a miserable matrimony, a set of security guards, and an outwardly affable accountant who worked at the World Trade Center, and survived. Discreet, incisive research of suppressed anger uses humor and observation to dramatize the importance of living a life that has meaning. Cast includes Olympia Dukakis, Jim Gaffigan, Judy Greer, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tom McCarthy, Sharat Saxena, Naseeruddin Shah, Tony Shalhoub, Stephen Colbert, Dick Latessa, Can Amett, Anita Gillette, and Edie Falco. (87 minutes, 2006)

Single Handed: A pitiful female, two times impregnated and three times divorced plans to become prostitute. Mansfield's last film was not seen in theaters until after her death. Cast includes Jayne Mansfield, Dorothy Keller, Fabian Dean, Billy M. Greene, Martin Horsey, and Walter Gregg. (93 minutes, 1968)

Black Windmill the Dracula: This is a classic terror film of the Transylvanian vampire performing his malevolent spell on puzzled group of Londoners. Lugosi's most renowned role with his definitive explanation of the Tally, ditto Frye as loony Renfield and Van Sloan as unflappable Professor Van Helsing. Cast includes Bela Lugosi, David Behaviors, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye, Edward Van Sloan, Herbert Bunston, and Frances Dade. (75 minutes, 1931)
