Choosing The Right Espresso Coffee Machine

By Mark Knowles

Many people enjoy drinking a cup of espresso before going to work for the day. Starbucks is very popular for this reason, as are some of the stores associated with gas stations. However, buying espresso on a daily basis can be expensive, and most people don't have the money to keep doing this. For this reason, if you enjoy espresso, you might want to get your own espresso coffee coffee maker and make coffee in the house.

There are two types of home espresso machines. The cheaper coffee machines are steam driven, while the fancier makers are pump driven.

Kitchen space is one of the most important factors to consider when purchasing an espresso machine.

If, like many people, you are short on kitchen space, you'll want to get the smallest coffee machine possible. Most people's kitchens are overflowing with appliances, so that using any particular machine becomes an exercise in unplugging and shuffling things on the counter.

Therefore, you might want to try to get a small maker if possible so that it is easier to store and to move around. Other features that you might want to consider include ease of cleaning (some coffee machines have a removable filter basket) and whether or not the maker comes equipped with a programmable timer.

Of course, when evaluating espresso coffee makers, the most important thing is the taste of the finished coffee. You can't try out an espresso maker in the store, so make sure to taste homemade espresso from your friends' coffee machines before making your decision.
