Basics Of Pay Per Click Advertising That Shouldn't Be Ignored In Order To Save Money

Here are some Basics of Pay Per Click Advertising That Shouldn't Be Ignored. Pay per click advertising is where you pay search engines like Google to advertise your webpage which can either be your website or a sales page for a particular product you are promoting for sale. If you do a search on Google you will see on the left hand of the page what is referred to as organic listings. These are listings that are free. On the other hand if you look on the right hand side you will see under the heading "sponsored" listings which people pay to have ranked.

Some pay five cents per link. Some pay five dollars or more per click. But every advertiser picks what he or she will pay per click.

You bid for the search engine term or phrase. The more popular the search term the higher you need to bid to be on the first page of search results. So when you see the top ranking sponsored site you know they are paying a lot to be there. So think twice before clicking those links. You are literally costing people money.

If you have a computer repair business you would have to bid a high price for the search engine term "computer repair." This is because there are many businesses who want to have that search term. Of course it also depends on how popular your business is. If there is a great need for your service you will have more competition at the top of the search engine results page.

However, many other landscape businesses are thinking the same thing. And since there are only about eight to ten spots available on the first page you have to bid a high pay per click price. You have to out bid many other landscaped companies out there to be on the first page. Anything other than the first page is usually a waste of time since very few people bother going to the second page to find what they are looking for.

And realize you are only trying to get people to go to your website with pay per click. They still have to buy from your website before you make back the pay per click charge.

You can lower your pay per click fees and increase your odds of moving up the search results page by choosing a less popular search term. For instance you can bid on the search term "computer repair for women." There will not be as much competition for this term so you will be able to offer a lower pay per click bid.

You will have a better chance of being on the first page of search results for a lower per pay click fee than the more popular term. Of course you limit your ad to those who are looking for a more specific service and there will be less people searching for that term. But if you find a series of more specific terms you will have more than enough people finding your ad in their online search. This is one of the basics of pay per click advertising that shouldn't be ignored if you want an effective cost savings online advertising plan.
