Camping With Kids? Be Prepared To Ensure A Successful Trip!
Is it even possible for kids not to have fun when they go camping? Only if you are not prepared. Make sure the basics are taken care of and your kids will have a total blast on your next camping trip!
First rule is first aid. Kids are very adventurous, which often translates into cuts and bruises. Check your first aid kit to make sure it is complete before you head out.
Don't underestimate the importance of personal items. Toilet paper, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, tissues, etc. These things go a long way to help your kids be comfortable away from home.
Sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets are next. Extra blankets and pillows can come in very handy and help your kids be more comfortable.
Lanterns and flashlights are a must. Bring plenty of batteries for them, too. Your kids will have more fun if they have their own flashlights and they'll be a lot safer in the dark.
With younger kids, you need to prepare for boredom control. Small toys and coloring books can work wonders for this. For long car rides, bring some travel board games.
Food and water can make or break your camping trip. Bring plenty of clean, fresh water. And don't assume your kids will eat whatever you try to push on them, just because it was cooked over an open flame. Bring foods they enjoy, like marshmallows, hot dogs, chips, and maybe even some candy.
To make you and your kids more comfortable around the campfire, bring camping chairs and a folding table or two. Remember, kids won't be as keen on roughing it as you might be.
Lastly, bring extra clothing. You never know what to expect, so be prepared, just in case!
Follow these tips and your kids will have a wonderful time camping with you. They will have memories they will treasure for a lifetime.
