Panic Room
When someone mentions a panic room, what normally comes to mind is the 2002 movie that Jodie Foster starred in. But what is an actual panic room? What purpose does a panic room serve?
Panic rooms, commonly known as safe rooms, are not meant for the general public. They are mostly made for high profile and wealthy individuals and families. Many panic room manufacturers do not disclose a lot of detailed information about their safe rooms because their clients pay a lot of money to keep things private.
We do know that panic rooms serve more than one purpose. They are mare made in response to risks certain high profiled or wealthy individuals or families may have with kidnapping or terrorists attacks. A panic room serves as an added safeguard in case something were to happen to them.
Panic rooms have a lot of different safety features. Walls can be reinforced with hefty material to shield off invaders who are attacking. They also are designed to keep their occupants from being found if possible, so it serves as a hidden room in many respects.
Panic rooms are usually fitted with high tech equipment. Surveillance equipment from inside the panic rooms are usually connected to cameras around the home to provide the occupants inside the opportunity to see the events that are happening outside the room. Panic rooms can also be linked to home security systems, so that once the room is opened an alarm will alert the police or other security agents of any trouble.
Most safe rooms are not meant to be used by their occupants for an extended period of time. Other than in rare hostage circumstances, panic rooms are usually only used for a few hours or less. Unless an attack is anticipated to be for a long time period, safe rooms are often designed with a short stay in mind.
Although people feel that panic rooms are meant to be safeguards against home invasions, this actually isn't their most used purpose. A lot of people use panic rooms as a custom-designed safe that can store their valuables. Panic rooms are great places to store precious artwork, rare books, and other priceless collections.
They are also becoming more and more popular because of the current weather related catastrophes that have been happening. A lot of safe rooms are being made with weather-resistant materials to protect occupants against tornado and hurricane winds that might attack their home. Many panic rooms have strong foundations to the home and are reinforced with steel and concrete for added protection.
