Activities for Your Family to Enjoy while Camping
More and more families are discovering that camping is an affordable and enjoyable way to spend quality time with each other. As far as activities are concerned, playing a variety of games on your outing will provide hours of enjoyment for everyone in your family. Board games such as Hi-Ho Cherry-O, Candyland and Monopoly are some of the more popular choices. Card games are also quite popular such as Go-Fish and Uno; the games are small enough to fit into a backpack for easy storage.
Perhaps you are more interested in getting your family out in the meadow to have a more active experience. Well, there are some great active games such as Frisbee-Golf and Capture-the-Flag. If you have younger children in the family, a favorite game to play around the campfire is Duck-Duck Goose. The family member sit in a circle and one child or adult goes around and gently taps each person on the head saying "duck," until someone has been picked to be the goose.
A family hike ranks high among favorite camping activities. A hike into the mountains can be invigorating and provide an opportunity to see nature in its purest form. A hike can turn into a wonderful learning experience about nature, and if you have younger children, a hike does tend to tire out the children so they will sleep in their own sleeping bags all night!
Another great idea is to organize a nature scavenger hunt; compile a list of items that can be found in the environment and see who can collect all of the items in the quickest amount of time. You can even add a twist to the game, making it a trash scavenger hunt. Members of your family will be having fun while cleaning up the environment. The person with the most items on the list will win the game!
So what are you waiting for? I suggest that you get the members of your family together and plan some fun camping activities before you leave on your trip. By planning ahead, you will be prepared to entertain the younger members of the family. All you need is your imagination and some creativity to ensure that everyone has a great time!
