New Image For An Old Favourite Store In Wales
Williams and Evans conjures up a bye-gone era, so it was with some trepidation that I was asked to review this menswear shop in Bridgend. Stepping in to the well lit, beautifully laid out range upon range of stylish clothing, my breath was truly taken away. I guess it was because I was expecting to see clothes that my grandfather would wear that I was so pleasantly yet abruptly surprised. This is a gem of a clothes shop for men, whether you are shopping for yourself or for that special man in your life
The Owner, Edward Davies is the latest in a long line of family members who have taken care with this little gem of a clothes store. I asked Ed who were his customers. "We cater for men of all ages", he answered, "though I guess that most of my customers are successful men between about 35 and 65". Basically, they seem to cater for fashion conscious men who want to look and feel great in their clothes
Clothing influences that permeate the shop are mainly European. Top German, Italian, French and English brands that evoke style, class and being in the moment. Brands like Bruno St Hilaire, Seidensticker and Gurteen evoke the classic looks of the successful European man. Traditional classic staples from HJ Hall (they make the most wonderful socks) and Jockey are also available at reasonable prices in great availability of sizes. Add to this the best of the Brook Taverner range and you have a sure recipe for success

For such a seemingly small store, the stock that Williams and Evans carries is surprisingly good. I had no trouble at all finding a range of clothing that fitted me perfectly and the staff were a joy to deal with. Pleasant and knowledgeable, yet allowing me to have as much time as necessary to browse at my leisure
The clothes range from casual to formal, from outerwear to underwear, everything that a style conscious man could ever need to clothe himself. Sometimes the nicest things really do come in the smallest of packages. If you are looking for somewhere that truly does understand the very special needs of the fashion conscious man, if you are in the Bridgend, South Wales area, you really do need to check them out. You will find a gem of a clothes store, reasonably priced for the quality of clothing that they supply and excellence in service that I thought had disappeared from this country long ago
