Ways To Use Golf Carts Besides Golfing

By Jerry C. Sotto

The average person only thinks of using golf carts when they are on a golf course, but there are many other uses for them. If you stop and think about it, you will realize that you have probably seen them used at sporting events such as major league baseball games, pro football as well as the PGA.

The growth of private gated communities and resorts has resulted in the use of golf carts to get around instead of using the usual mode of transportation, the car. The members can use their golf cart to go to the stores in their area since these communities have wide enough paths rather than just sidewalks.

When you visit a large medical center with several buildings, you will notice golf carts being used to navigate between these buildings; and, surprisingly, to even carry people within the buildings.

Most people have to come to realize the effectiveness of golf carts, including utility golf carts. From being able to plow your driveway in deep snow, to digging and even pulling a trailer, the utility golf cart has made its way into homes around the globe, making it a more affordable option than buying a tractor.

Golf carts have been used in senior citizen retirement communities for many years instead of traditional automobiles. They are actually the vehicle of choice in many of the resort retirement communities since most amenities are available within a short distance of home, and the community will usually offer private transportation if you need to leave the premises.

No matter what you prefer, you should be able to find the right golf cart equipped with anything you want, such as leather seats, air conditioning, etc. After adding all of your options, the cart might even cost as much as a new car.

As with all motorized vehicles, the owners should check all municipal and state laws to find out what is necessary to run your golf cart. As states vary, so do the laws, and you may need to register your golf cart to operate it. And as vehicles require insurance to be driven, it is also a good idea to check with your insurance company to see if your auto policy or homeowner's policy will cover any damage to your golf cart.

All-in-all, golf carts are fast becoming a widely accepted mode of transportation, both on and off the course. Check them out the next time you are in the market for alternate forms of transportation.
