Recreations In Sacramento

Sacramento is a river town loaded with several activities for recreation. This city has been created virtually by the California Gold Rush. You can find the old Sacramento Historic Area along the Sacramento River bank. This National Historic Landmark is spread in 28 acres and attracts over 5 million visitors per year. In this area you can find horse drawn carriages on cobblestone streets and wooden-slat sidewalks that can give any visitor a sense of the bustle and vitality that is automatically generated by the memory of the numerous hopeful prospectors who came to Sacramento in mid-nineteenth century.

The old historical features of the shops, museums and restaurants in Old Sacramento are still preserved. You can enjoy various activities like riding on nineteenth century boats and touring, a visit to the Central Pacific Railroad depots and the exploring the bustling market on the Old Sacramento waterfront.

Other activities in Sacramento include skiing, golf, cycling, fishing, horse back riding, nature walks and a lot more. There are so many attractions in Sacramento that time will fall short, not the places. If you are in this town then there are no chances of missing the beaches of Los Angeles or the Hollywood stars. The attractions offer loads of thrills, fun and excitement throughout the year in every section of the town.

A visit to the Sacramento zoo can be very enjoyable and apt for family fun. Over 400 exotic animals are on display in their natural setting. The animals include zebras, lemurs, snow leopards, pandas, jaguars, chimpanzee and more. The zoo places emphasis on protecting endangered animals along with faithful recreation of the natural habitats. If you are looking for a family sized adventure then from the zoo you can head towards the Funderland Amusement Park or the Fairytale Town.

Fairytale Town is for children. It is a park that is based on themes from nursery rhymes and fairytales. There are several museums and river cruises to have fun, whether you want to learn more about the history, architecture and history or you simply want to get out on water and enjoy the sights. No matter what your budget, passion and stamina, you can always find some attraction that can make your trip memorable.

Within easy driving distance you can go to Coloma, which is one of the Gold County Towns that has a Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. In Columbia, there is the Columbia State Historic Park where you can ride a stagecoach and pan gold. You can also go for Northern California outdoor attractions from Sacramento. Yosemite National Park is just hours away from the city. As far as art and culture of Sacramento is concerned the city is rich in theater. There are various non-profit musical theaters based here.

If you visit the city during the Memorial Day weekend, you can enjoy Sacramento Jazz Jubilee which is the largest congregation of jazz bands of the world. Over 100 bands are featured in this congregation and it attracts more than 100,000 listeners. In July, a Bridge-to-Bridge festival takes place that is event for two days and features boating exhibitions, boat races, wakeboard demonstration and the Cost Guard display. You can also be a part of the California State Fair that is hosted by Sacramento in early September. Besides these attractions you can easily find an array of various other recreation options, to make your vacation a memorable one.
