Pros of Styrofoam Epoxy
Styrofoam glue doesn't get the same attention as many other specialty epoxies, probably due in large part because of the lack of common projects involving Styrofoam. That said, this is a quality product that should not be overlooked whenever you need to work on a project involving Styrofoam.
Styrofoam glue is a specialty epoxy designed just for use in projects involving Styrofoam. This is nothing new seeing as how many people know about wood glue or crazy glue. This is just one more often used for arts and crafts and other similar hobbies.
Don't get the point of this article wrong - you can use other types of glue to glue Styrofoam. They simply won't work as well as an adhesive that is specifically designed for these types of projects.
One of the obvious pros from using Styrofoam adhesive is that this type of glue will function best with Styrofoam in any project or any given situation. This adhesive is even designed at the chemical and molecular level to bond naturally and effectively with Styrofoam.
Another benefit is that Styrofoam adhesives are relatively cheap, meaning that a small $4 tube of glue can help keep the Styrofoam in place, thus protecting a larger investment. A classic example is model rockets that use Styrofoam and glue to keep the engine in place. The glue costs a lot less than building a new rocket.
Unlike Elmer's glue or rubber cement, a good specialty glue for Styrofoam works well because it doesn't get used nearly as often. This means one little cheap tube can last for several projects.
There are many different epoxies for Styrofoam, but little discussion on which one is best. 3M and UHU are probably the two biggest companies that specialize in this type of glue, but there are others and all of them should work fine for any major craft or project that you have.
Hopefully this article has provided you with several reasons that you will want to choose a tube of Styrofoam glue the next time you need to glue Styrofoam for any type of a hobby. The next time the need comes up, now you know exactly how to answer the call!
