Remove Facial Lines And Wrinkles With Botox

By Mark Walters

Did you ever wonder why so many people today are receiving Botox treatments? Well, it is not just a result of superficial whims. The more intense sunlight that we see these days has increased the amount of lines and wrinkles that develop on our faces.

Besides sunlight causing skin aging, it also results in you having to squint, which in turn, creates wrinkling around the eyes prematurely, says medical cosmetic practitioner Dr Mariusz Gajewski of Star Cosmetic Medicine in New South Wales, Australia.

According to Dr Gajewski, skin aging has three central causes. First off, the collagen and elastin fibres that keep your skin smooth and firm are damaged by exposure to the sun. Secondly, the modifications to skin texture and pigmentation caused by UV rays. Lastly, there is the apparent movement of muscles under the surface of the skin which leads to an increase in the lines that show on the outer surface of it.

While good quality sun protection helps to prevent the first two issues, the only thing - thus far - that helps the influence of muscle movement making facial lines is Botox.

Botox injections can be had on all areas of the face, but the most frequents ones are the "frown point" between the eyebrows, the outer corner of the eyes, and the upper part of the forehead. Depending on your age, and how much time you spend in the sun, you may have already noticed these problem areas on your own face.

For some people, the lines and wrinkles on their face show permanently, whilst others are slightly better off in that they only appear when they make certain facial expressions. Unfortunately though, once lines and wrinkles start to develop they will only get worse.

It is a relatively quick and simple procedure to have botox injection to improve your looks. A doctor will makes a series of injections into the affected areas, and you can go home the same day. If you have just mild lines and wrinkles, you may only need just one round of injections; though you may need to visit your botox doctor several times if you have lots of lines or wrinkles, of if they are quite deep.

You do not have to concerned about side effects, as they are minor at worst. The most common problems are temporary bruising, swelling and pinprick pain at the injection site, explains Dr Mariusz Gajewski. These minor side effects last for just 24-48 hours are uncomfortable, rather than painful.

You need to act with caution though, as the over use of botox injections is the only real problem with them. Having the right levels of botox injected at the right intervals will give you fresher, firmer features, but get either the amount of botox, or the length of time between treatments, wrong, and there is a chance of you looking somewhat inexpressive and plastic.

If you would like Botox injections, remember that you need someone with the expertise and experience to determine where and how much to inject. Dr Mariusz Gajewski of Sydney's Star Cosmetic Medicine suggests asking your GP or dermatologist for a recommendation.
