Some people who pursue an online education are people who need to cannot take time off from their work but want additional degrees or certifications in order to advance in their career. It is the opposite for others: they want to change careers or go into another field, but they want to be able to keep their current jobs while getting the training. Or are you the type who learns faster when left on your own, with assigned modules to read and answer at your own pace? Do you prefer working with a group or working on your own?
Pursuing an online education means that you are willing to be a self-starter, providing your own motivation. Chats, discussion boards and emails will be the usual means of interaction with classmates and teachers.
If you think you will do well in this kind of environment, then an online high school is a good option for you. If you feel that you will have difficulty with this set-up, you may want to go a more traditional route.
