Chances are you have taken him/her home and welcomed them into your home and now you are trying to do all the responsibilities that come with taking care of a new puppy. Most of us get a puppy and then leave him/her alone for several hours while we go away to school or work, while the puppy stays in your home for several hours all by themselves. 1. Pick the right puppy: Every puppy is cute and adorable; however we must remember that they will only be puppies for awhile. Eventually they grow up. If you do not want a big dog then decide that while they are still puppies and be aware of what breeds of dogs are big dogs and which ones are lap dogs.

2. Get All Your Supplies: Everyone needs to understand that when you get a new puppy you are taking on a lot of responsibility. In fact you should never bring home a new puppy unless you already have all the supplies that you will be needing to train them.

3. Consider Crate Training: It seems that more and more people are realizing that crate training is one of the best methods to use to train a new puppy. Research has shown that a puppy or dog will never use the bathroom where they sleep this is the main reason that crate training will cut down on household accidents.

4. Schedule Your Training: If you are trying to get your puppy potty trained then you will want to begin taking them outside at the same time everyday. This will help them get a routine and establish a potty training cycle. Here is when you should take them out right when you both get up in the morning, after they are done with their morning meal about 20-25 minutes after wards and then right before you put them in their kennel for the night.

Now that you understand what it takes to potty train a puppy you should know that it is not that difficult.
