If you would like to lose a few pounds, then you've come to the right place. There are two components to losing weight: Proper diet, and sufficient, and proper exercise. Here I will give you some outlines to help you maximize your exercise program.

Exercise can be fantastic to help you lose weight, but not for the reasons many believe. Most people are under the impression that exercising burns calories only while you are exercising.

While you do burn more calories while you are exercising than when you aren't, the magic comes afterwards. By doing the right exercises, you can effectively skyrocket your metabolism, making it much easier to burn fat.

Even by boosting your metabolism just a few percentage points, you will dramatically skyrocket your ability to literally melt the fat off your body.

The most simple and straightforward way to increase your metabolism is by increasing your lean muscle mass. Only muscles burn calories, so the more you have, the more you'll burn. Don't worry about getting bulky, I'll cover that in a minute.

What is the best way to achieve this? Two things are important. One is to target large muscle groups, like your back, your abs, your upper leg and hip muscles. Second, is to do a high number of reps, with a low amount of weight. This will keep you from getting big and bulky.

The best exercises to do this are simple body weight exercises. You don't really need to go to the gym, or use exercise equipment if you don't want to. Push ups, sit ups, pull ups, and squats are fantastic, and will quickly get into wonderful shape. The great part about doing body weight exercises, is that you don't need to spend a lot of time with them. Just a few minutes a day is all you need.

When you combine a common sense eating plan, with some body weight exercises, you will lose the weight you want in no time, and impress your friends.
