For some, the decision to quit smoking means to quit everything. It has become a part of their lives that most smokers can't live without it. The truth is that, cigarettes work like a deadly potion that slowly kills those that are taking it. You may not feel it now, but sooner or later, its effect will just surprise you, and then you can't do anything about it anymore.

For every 10 milligrams of nicotine present on each cigarette stick, about 10-20% of it comes into the smoker's brain when he inhales some of the smoke. What happens to the 80% left? Well, the rest of it is being inhaled by your family or anyone closest to you with every puff you make. For your information, second hand smoke is much deadlier and a drop of pure nicotine can kill a person in a snap.

There are many reasons why people find it difficult to quit smoking, despite knowing the horrible effects it can cause. One of the common reasons why people are addicted to smoking is to control stress. When they feel stressed and troubled, they think smoking can give them fast relief.

Also, another reason is for reducing food intake. Most people who want to reduce weight try to prevent eating and smoke instead. Since smoking can apparently help them to lose their appetite, smokers will just substitute their food intake with nicotine intake. This is an insane remedy for their diet but most people still desperately do this for the sake of losing weight.

Other reasons why people got into the smoking addiction are because of peer pressure, curiosity, and rebellion. While others didn't like it and felt dizzy or even experienced nausea the first time they tried it, others have tried it again and actually liked the feeling. Time passed by and what they now know today is that they can't live without a cigarette to puff and getting out of the addiction seems to be the hardest thing to do.

While there are many reasons why people tarted smoking, there are far more reasons why people should quit smoking. If you do not want nicotine to eat every part of your body bit by bit, it's never too late to change and turn things around. If you can't find enough reasons to quit, the love for yourself and your family are enough reasons why you should quit smoking before it's too late. As much as your addiction keeps you from living a healthy life, just remember that your mind is more powerful than that. No one can help you quit smoking but yourself.
