What's Best: Kauai Vacation Rental, Condo, or Hotel?
Of the eight primary Hawaiian islands, Kauai is the fourth in size and population and is also known as the "Garden Island" because of its abundant rainfall, sunshie, and lush growth. Residential and commercial development only covers about four percent of the entire land area leaving 96 percent virtually untouched; truly an unspoiled paradise which makes it a spectacular place to visit during your next Hawaiian vacation. When looking for a place to stay on Kauai you have several choices: condominiums, hotel rooms or a Kauai vacation rental.
Renting a condo on Kauai has become one of the most popular options that travelers take with regard to the accommodations that they use during trips. One of the biggest reasons for this, apart from the fact that condos are more economical than a hotel, condo rentals allows vacationers to enjoy the comforts of home during vacations. Moreover, there are also other advantages that renting a condo can provide which have added to their popularity. Condos have kitchens that allow people to cook their own food and enjoy home-cooked meals even on vacation, which can be a big savings. In addition, the fact that most condominiums have more than one bathroom makes it more convenient for large families to rent a condo.
Ever stayed in a hotel room with several people, but only had one bathroom? Most condos have more than one bathroom greatly increasing their popularity. One drawback of staying at a condominium or a hotel is that you are surrounded by other visitors also on vacation which makes it difficult to experience life "like a local".
Renting a hotel room during your Kauai vacation may be a good option for you, especially for a short stay. Room service and daily maid service are a nice treat, but the price for these luxuries really adds up when staying for more than a few days. On the less pleasant side when staying at a hotel you are always close to your neighbors which can make privacy somewhat limited - the next room is only one wall away and a noisy neighbor can make for fitful sleep and a less than enjoyable stay. Hotels are usually your most expensive accommodation on Kauai.
If you really want to experience life in the islands then a Kauai vacation rental is the way to go. Renting a home is much less expensive than a comparable hotel room and while it may be more expensive than a condo the extra bedrooms, bathrooms, yard and parking really make a Kauai rental your home away from home. Traveling with a large family, or several couples together can make this a very affordable option. Most homes are owned individually and you'll be dealing with the owner when setting rates - during the off-season they'll be flexible in their pricing so you can get the best deal possible.
Another advantage of renting a home is plenty of parking, if you're renting a home you won't have to compete with your neighbors for the limited parking. While in a hotel usually you can park one or two cars a room in the hotel parking lot which is difficult for large families traveling together.
