Luau parties are really popular during the summer, but whether your upcoming party has a Hawaiian theme or not, luau party favors are sure to be a big hit. They add a fun twist to any social event, can really heighten the mood, and are good conversational pieces for when things slow down.
You might be surprised that you can find more luau favors than just the conventional grass hula skirts and flower leis -- though guests often love to receive those. There is a whole world of things to choose from, from the tiniest to the biggest Hawaiian-themed items. The real plus side is that these never impede on the fun guests are having and they are always good conversation starters and ice breakers.
More abstract luau party favors will entice the guests and get them even more excited. Leis are great, but you want your party to be memorable. Novelty colored glasses are also good party favors that are luau themed, especially if they have a palm tree or some other Hawaiian image in the middle. If you are more comfortable with giving out leis, there are glow in the dark and light up ones available that you can give out as luau party favors. These can almost always turn an already successful party into a complete and utter smash, so don't be skittish to put a little bit more money towards these popular leis.
Flip flop shoes are also good party favors to give to guests, especially if it happens to be hot outside. Taking someone's normal shoes away and having them wear the same shoes as everyone else can level the social playing field. It is almost like they're stepping out of the real world and into your party world, and that can really have a huge effect on the whole mood of the party.
If you're really planning on having a luau, then the grass hula skirt is obligatory. Though not every guest will necessarily wear them, many will and they will have a great time doing it. It's just not a luau party without a few grass hula skirts, and even some coconut tops.
Everyone knows about leis and grass skirts, but that does not mean that those are the only luau party favors you can stick to. Try to be unique and even go all out in order to make your next outdoor party a bit hit. Though all that effort towards planning will be spent once the party itself is over, your guests are going to remember it for a long time afterwards.
