Should You Buy An Inexpensive Novaform Mattress?
The company that actually invented the Novaform products is known as Sleep Innovations. There are a number of other brand names that they own, such as Comfort Plus, Personal Expressions, and a few more. Over the years that it's existed, it has provided several visco elastic foam mattresses. Their most popular however, is without a doubt the Novaform.
The concept of memory foam bedding is not a new one. It was actually invented by NASA in the sixties. A man named Charles Yost engineered it, as he wanted to create improved aircraft cushions. The memory foam was called Temper, because it tends to get soft as it warms. NASA never actually used the material, but several decades later they did release it to the public.
It's had numerous uses from the time when NASA made it available to the public in the 1980's, although it was somewhat difficult to manufacture at first. The technique was perfected by Fagerdala World Foams of Sweden who used it to create the successful Tempurpedic mattress. It's grown to be a mainstay of the bedding industry, becoming very popular in a relatively short period of time.
If you haven't tried one of these mattresses, you may be curious as to what the big deal is. The main thing that separates memory foam from a traditional innerspring bed is that it molds to the curves of your body and slowly regains its original shape after you move. This more evenly distributes the pressure, rather than concentrating it in a few spots, which makes it much more comfortable. The idea is that you'll sleep better because you won't have to toss and turn as much.
Visco elastic foam is not easy to manufacture so it tends to be relatively expensive. Because of its high demand many shady companies have sprung up producing cheap mattresses. Some are made of low quality foam or may not even be memory foam at all. This allows them to make a lot of money but the mattress won't provide the proper support and will probably fall apart soon after you get it home. You really have to be cautious when buying one because it's easy to get ripped off.
Due to these companies making imitation mattresses, the best place to buy would be from a place like Costco which will allow you to exchange it without a hassle. You know you'll be getting a high quality product there, and you won't have to worry about getting stuck with a mattress that you hate.
One other reason to purchase a Novaform is the fact that these mattresses are actually the cheapest that are still made with memory foam. For those who want to see what memory foam is like, this is a great place to start. If you don't like it after giving it a try, then there's nothing wrong with switching back to the innerspring model.
In conclusion, if you're considering the purchase of a Novaform mattress but were unsure, trying one out couldn't hurt. Memory foam is excellent and has actually helped many people to have a great night's sleep. However, not everyone loves this type of mattress so it's good to have the option of exchanging it.
You should also be aware that a Novaform isn't going to be as nice or as durable as a Tempurpedic, but that's to be expected since they cost half as much. Mattresses undergo quite a bit of wear and tear, so the old saying "you get what you pay for" holds especially true here.
