If you really want to build a safe and well protected chicken coop then there are various things that you should keep in mind. The coop should be well located, good materials should be used and it should possess a good lightening as well as ventilation system.

Chicken coops can only be made safe and well protected if you use the tips that are mentioned below.

1. Location

A fine setting is very significant for a chicken coop. While planning and building the formation you must make sure that the particular area you have selected should neither be exposed to rough weather nor should it be prone to flooding. A hygienic, dry and well sheltered region should be chosen so that it keeps the birds safe in all the circumstances.

2. Select a portable coop

Sometimes it becomes greatly crucial to save your birds from unsafe animals and bad weather conditions that is why a portable coop is much better as compared to a set one. This set up would make it easier for you to move the chicken construction as a when required.

3. It should be easily cleaned

An excellent coop should be the one that is affordable and easy to construct. When you are making the structure, make sure you design it in such a way that it becomes easier for you to clean it everyday.

4. Good construction materials

You can make a coop using inexpensive scarp materials, but such an arrangement would not last for a long period of time. That is why you must always use proper strong materials like wood to build it.

5. Proper ventilation

Every chicken coop should be properly ventilated. You should include two to three windows in your design which can easily slide and open. The doors should be large so that you can enter inside for cleaning purpose.

6. Good lightening system

Light your building with either fluorescent bulbs or electric lights. The lightening system would make sure the coop is not dark and it would also keep the birds warm during the cold seasons.

7. It should be spacious

Keep the chicken coop well-ventilated and large so that you can enter it for cleaning purposes. You can also keep nesting boxes where the birds can lay eggs, bedding boxes for their compost and roosts for sleeping purpose.

I am sure the above stated tips would help you to build a good chicken coop.
