Sailing the high seas in comfort to faraway destinations is only a part of the cruise line experience. There are so many types of experiences which attempt time to time by cruise services. Though no one can deny the pleasure of five-star treatment around the clock, there is another reason to book a cruise vacation - the absolutely amazing shore excursions. So many reasons are available for cruise vacations. These shore excursions at exotic ports of call stops really put cruise vacations head and shoulders above other types of vacation experiences. Just imagine the thrill of taking a cable ride up to the top of Victoria Peak and looking down at the mesmerizing city of Hong Kong or exploring the ancient pyramids of Giza.

Shore excursions come in all different sizes and packages. Every body want to enjoy this as it is the memorable part of vacation. If you're booking your cruise vacation online, you can also book your shore excursions at the same time. These online sites usually list in detail the specific shore excursions that are available. However, you don't have to book the excursions at the same time you book your vacation. You can book directly with the cruise staff once you're on board, but try not to wait to the last minute, as the better shore excursions fill up fast.

Besides booking the excursions with the cruise line, you can also book directly with the shore excursion operators. So many trips are available and so many services are also available to fulfil the requirements. For example, if you wanted to take a helicopter ride over Dubai, you can search the Internet for helicopter companies offering private tours. If you plan to rent diving equipment and dive in the waters off the stunning Great Barrier Reef, you can book directly with a rental company, either through the Internet or when you land on shore.

If you don't want to book an organized shore excursion, you can also decide to do it on your own. Walk into town if it's close enough to the port or hail a taxi if it's a bit of a distance. Spend the day shopping for exotic finds or just stroll the streets and take in the atmosphere. When tired, stop in one of the local restaurants for a taste of the local cuisine.

Whatever type of shore excursion you choose, it's sure to add an extra dimension to your cruise line experience.
