Create Your Own Success by Promoting Your Own Classic Album

By Arthur Cundy

If you don't get signed by a record company in the beginning of your career, try to keep your head up and realize that all is not lost yet. Just because you don't have Sony on your record label does not mean that you are not going to be successful. You can still create your own success by promoting your own classic album.

The first thing that you have to learn is that you cannot try and take on too much. Many have gone down this road and few have come back. You get to the point that you feel as though you are in quick sand and have no shot of ever getting your head back up to take a breath of clean air.

It all starts with setting a goal for yourself in regards to what you want to achieve with your promotion. After you have that in mind, you can go about putting a game plan together to make that happen. You are much better off breaking everything down into simple steps so that you can see the progression over time and get some satisfaction as stages are completed.

As you move forward on this new venture of yours, you will want to make a press kit. This will be something that you can put out for people to see and that you can give away to all of the new contacts that you will be making. The press kit should contain: all of your contact information (including your website), CD, photos, and a bio.

At this point, you are going to have to figure out who you are going to target for distribution. When you are promoting actual shows, the best bet is to focus on local media and try and draw as much attention as you can in order to get an audience at the show. You can try and get some local radio shows to help you promote the concert as well.

This point cannot be stressed too much. If you focus your efforts in the wrong area you are only going to be wasting money. When you are working on a tight budget, you need every penny to count. Every cent that you put somewhere where it will do you no good is another penny that you may never get back again.

While there are never any guarantees in this business, if you follow these basic guidelines, you will a much better chance of succeeding in promoting your classic music album and yourself as an artist than if you were to go about it haphazardly. In the end, you can only hope that all of your hard work pays off in the form of a contract with a record label that allows you to continue your dream of being a professional classical musician.
