Flat Screen TVs - What You Need To Know

When it comes to watching TV in the bedroom, flat screen TVs are an excellent choice. They take up a small amount of space, and are easily mounted at the perfect height for optimum viewing. The first thing that you need to ask yourself is how large your bedroom TV needs to be. There are plasma and LCD models available, so you should decide which is best for your bedroom.

Generally, plasma TVs are better for viewing in conditions with low light (such as watching TV at night), as opposed to an LCD TV. There is fierce competition to dominate the TV market, and these technologies are always seeing new improvements. If you're looking to compare the various types of TVs and models, you should check out a store or browse some reviews on the internet.

Ultimately, the size of your bedroom and your distance from the TV will determine the scale of the TV you should purchase. For viewing in high definition, you should generally be positioned at a distance twice that of the TV screen. Usually, this distance is closer to three times this distance.

A slightly greater distance is more comfortable with a standard definition television. Thirty-two-inch screens are good for 12 x 12 foot rooms or less, thirty-seven-inch screens will work in rooms as big as 15 square feet, and 42-inch and above flat screens are appropriate for rooms that are even larger.

When judging the quality of the image, you need to consider the time of day that you'll be viewing the TV. You need to purchase a TV which allows for the correct viewing angle for your situation, as well as one that has enough brightness to see comfortably. Next, observe how well the TV reproduces accurate, deep black tones, since this is usually a difficult task for most TVs and is an indicator of quality.

The last thing you want to be certain of is the clarity of the edges between the reds and the yellows when you stand very close to the screen. Using this set of criterion, you will be able to choose the best flat screen television to meet your needs, while staying within your budget.

The height at which you want to mount your television is your final consideration. As you will want to be able to view the screen easily while you are standing or in bed, placing the screen near the ceiling is usually optimum.
