Understanding Prophesy And The Mayan Calendar
Mayan cultures died off many centuries in the past. Many people in the twenty first century know nothing about the culture and what they left for us to study and understand. The cycles of the universe were critical in Mayan societies. Because of their deep understanding they made 22 different calendars to explain their knowledge. Although the calendars recorded time, they also contained other information. The Mayan calendars were also prophesies. Today many people are starting to study these calendars very closely. Prophesy and the Mayan calendar is become a topic of deep discussion, and we will explore the reason this is happening.
December 21, 2012 marks the last day recorded by the Mayans. Doomsday scenarios are traveling around the globe, as many believe the world will be ending on that day. But there are other beliefs and interpretations as well. Many people believe the date is a prophesy, but with a totally different meaning.
The deep understanding of the solar system is the first place to look for a deeper meaning to the calendar. One prophesy described the end date to be the beginning of a period of extensive change and evolution around the globe. It describes a time when societies move away from destructive behaviors and move in the direction of harmony and peace instead. 1999 was the time for this process to begin and it was said to last for thirteen years, which is when the calendar ends.
Cycles of the universe can be explained through Mayan understandings. They believed these cycles are fixed, and what really changes are the behaviors and attitude of the human race. It is possible for a cataclysm to occur, but this would only take place if humans refuse to alter their points of view during the transition period. In other words, they prophesied that our future on this planet depends upon our own ability and willingness to make the changes we need to make.
This alternative interpretation explains 2012 are a time to move forward in a good way, and not the end of the world scenario that others believe. It is possible for it to be the beginning of a period of peace and productivity and the creation of new societies. It could be a time when everyone in the human race can benefit.
The prophesies left behind by the Mayans are certainly worth examining. The accuracy is hard to dispute by most people who decide to study them. The first prediction made in the prophesies dealt with the human race destroying the environment. It came at a time on the calendar when the affects or global warming were beginning to be understood. Mayan knowledge was mysterious and beyond even their own time in history.
One prophesy described a time for intense change starting in the year 1999. It called upon a period of reevaluation for all human beings. It called on people to go in a different direction, making corrections in relationships, and moving away from fear.
Beliefs in prophesy and the Mayan calendar vary from one extreme to another. You will have to decide for yourself what your own belief is. But one thing is certain, Mayan culture is just as relevant today as it was when that passed along their knowledge centuries ago.
