Murphy's Romance: A youthful divorcee (with twelve-year-old child) makes a new start in a little Arizona town, where she's allured to an older laid-back widowed pharmacist. This movie is an intriguing, carefree comedy written by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr. Cast includes Sally Field, James Garner, Brian Kerwin, Corey Haim, Dennis Burkley, Georgann Johnson, and Charles Aisle. The Hills Run Red: A Civil War Western of stolen payrolls. The movie is badly dubbed and loosely performed. Cast includes Thomas Hunter, Henry Silva, Dan Duryea, and Nando Gazzola. (89 minutes, 1966)
Alfredo Alfredo: An all too normal Italian comedy in regards to a milquetoast who triumphs and weds a seductive female, only to regret the conquest. The lone interest is recognizing Hoffman?s good work in this uncommon setting (with a dubbed voice!). Cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Stefania Sandrelli, Carla Gravina, Clara Colosimo, Daniele Patella, and Duilio Del Prete. (98 minutes, 1972)
Fracture: Hopkins plays a cold, determining gentleman who shoots his spouse once he finds she's been in bed with an L.A.P.D. lieutenant. However there is no definitive proof, which makes the case a perfect one for partner D.A. Gosling, who's just getting ready to move on to a cushy job at a high-end law firm. Cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling, David Stratham, Rosamund Pike, Billy Burke, Fiona Shaw, Bob Gunton, Embeth Davidtz, Cliff Curtis, Xander Berkeley, Josh Starnberg, and Joe Spano. The Education of Sonny Carson: A fascinating if overemotional drama of a disobedient black youth in Brooklyn of the '50s and '60s. Based on Carson's autobiography, the film takes on extra meaning with consideration to his notoriety on the N.Y.C scene. Cast includes Ronny Familyton, Don Gordon, Joyce Stroller, and Paul Benjamin. The Jackpot: An old style, little comedy, uplifted by megastars. Stewart is the winner of a radio competition although he couldn?t pay the taxes on the winnings. Cast includes James Stewart, Barbara Hale, James Gleason, Fred Clark, and Natalie Wood. (87 minutes, 1960)
Straight Out of Brooklyn: The story of a black family?s going nowhere existence in the ghettos of Brooklyn, N.Y., and the oldest son?s plan to rob a local drug dealer to turn things around for the family. Cast includes George T. Odom, Ann D. Sanders, Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., Barbara Sanon, Reana E. Drummond, and Mark Malone. (91 minutes, 1991)
The Plough and the Stars: This is a boring, theatrical style film of a Sean O?Casey play with Foster as Irish a revolutionary leader and Stanwyck as his long-agonizing spouse who prays for his life. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Preston Foster, Barry Fitzgerald, Una O'Connor, Bonita Granville, and Arthur Guards. (78 minutes, 1936)
Slave Girls: The all too glamorous Andress is seized by locals and painted in arrangement for sacrifice in a scene essentially equivalent to that prompted by ex-spouse John Derek for current spouse Bo years later in Tarzan, The Ape Man. Cast includes Ursula Andress, Stacy Keach, Claudio Cassinelli, Antonio Marsina, and Franco Fantasia. (93 minutes, 1978)
