When you go out to look for a portable laptop, there are many things that you need to consider before you settle on one. Consider its use. Before you settle on a particular portable laptop, get to know the main reason as to why you are purchasing the laptop. If a simple machine for typing your college notes is all you want, then you can get yourself a mini-laptop and save yourself a lot of money. However, if you are more concerned about how your laptop will cope with advanced graphic design software that you would like to install on your computer, ensure that you get something that will handle heavy software.

Another thing that you need to look at when choosing a portable laptop is the warranty. If you are buying a new laptop from an authorized reseller, get a warranty. This will help you to avoid unnecessary future costs when the machine gets spoilt for no fault of your own. Currently, major portable laptops manufacturers offer 2 - 3 year warranties together with their products.

Check out the battery. The battery is one of the most important parts of a portable laptop though it is quite hard to detect how a good battery looks like, the most important thing for you to know is the reputation of the organization in relation to the battery. How long do their batteries last? Once you know this, you can be sure that you won't be having to buy a battery every now and then.

Check out if they have an operating system. Nowadays, many laptops come with already installed operating systems on the portable laptop. The advantage of this is that the overall cost of the whole laptop is reduced compared to if you would have bout the OS separately. Check and see if you are being offered this benefit.

Check out what others say about the company. A brand new laptop is usually a costly commodity. It is one of the last thing that you would like to gamble with a little known brand. Before you buy a laptop, see what other product reviews are saying Company. The main things to look out for are the longevity of their products and the customer care of the company.

The more the memory, the better. There is no such thing as too much memory. Memory can always be added with time. However, you needed to get a good laptop that has a lot of RAM to ensure that the features of the portablelaptop have already been optimized for a lot of memory. The advantage with memory is that you can never have enough memory.

Buy a portable laptop that can be upgraded. Don't buy a laptop that cannot grow. This is because portable laptops quickly become obsolete and they may need to be upgraded to keep up with the pace. Essentially, the portable laptop should have more USB ports, and slots for external hard disks.
