The Novaform Memory Foam Mattress By Sleep Innovations
The company behind the Novaform line of memory foam products is Sleep Innovations. Comfort Plus and Personal Expressions are a couple of the other name brands they own. They provide mattresses for several well known department stores like Kohl's, Sam's Club, Sears, Costco and Target. The company has offered quite a few visco elastic foam mattresses during its history. However the Novaform line, which you can find at Costco, has been one of their most popular.
The concept of memory foam bedding is not a new one. It was actually invented by NASA in the sixties. A man named Charles Yost engineered it, as he wanted to create improved aircraft cushions. The memory foam was called Temper, because it tends to get soft as it warms. NASA never actually used the material, but several decades later they did release it to the public.
It's had numerous uses from the time when NASA made it available to the public in the 1980's, although it was somewhat difficult to manufacture at first. The technique was perfected by Fagerdala World Foams of Sweden who used it to create the successful Tempurpedic mattress. It's grown to be a mainstay of the bedding industry, becoming very popular in a relatively short period of time.
If you've never actually laid on one of these mattresses, then chances are you're not sure why they're such a huge deal. The thing about this mattress is that it has the ability to mold to your body, and by that we do mean every single curve. It then returns to its original shape once you get up. In this, the pressure is evenly distributed across your entire body, making for a more comfortable night's sleep.
Visco elastic foam is particularly difficult to create; therefore manufacturers will charge more for it. In spite of its high price, it's still in extremely high demand. There have been some companies popping up making imitation mattresses, which sometimes aren't actually made from memory foam. They sell fast, but they won't support you and more than likely they'll just fall apart.
Due to these companies making imitation mattresses, the best place to buy would be from a place like Costco which will allow you to exchange it without a hassle. You know you'll be getting a high quality product there, and you won't have to worry about getting stuck with a mattress that you hate.
Believe it or not, Novaform mattresses are just about the cheapest memory foam mattresses you can get. If you pay any less than this you're probably not buying the real thing. Basically, they would make a good visco foam mattress for beginners. Anyone that just wants to see what it's like could try one out, and if you like it you can move to a more expensive model. If you decide you can't stand it, then you can just go back to a traditional innerspring mattress.
So if you're thinking about buying a Novaform mattress, but were hesitating because you had doubts, there's not really any harm in trying one out. Memory foam is a great product and has helped a lot of people sleep better, but it's not for everyone. It does have some drawbacks and is one of those things that people either love or hate.
You should also be aware that a Novaform isn't going to be as nice or as durable as a Tempurpedic, but that's to be expected since they cost half as much. Mattresses undergo quite a bit of wear and tear, so the old saying "you get what you pay for" holds especially true here.
