The Basic Steps In Hair Iron Care
It is inevitable that electrical appliances will be broken or will no longer function as time passes. These will all undergo wear and tear. As an electrical appliance, hair irons will also reach a point where it will no longer heat up and be useful.
But unlike most electrical appliances, repairing a hair iron is not really a practical thing to do, unless if the damage is very minor (like switches that dont hold) and does not require you to open it up.
The reason why it's not practical to have damaged hair irons repaired is that not only will it take time, they will still be broken again shortly. It will be better to spend the money for buying a new hair iron.
Of course it will be more economical to take good care of your hair irons and make them last longer. There are several simple steps to do this.
1. Don't leave your hair irons lying around along with other electrical appliances. Not only will it look very messy and disorganized, but there is also the danger of wearing out the wires faster. When electrical cords are tangled with those of other appliances, it will involve a lot of tugging around to find which plug is connected to your hair iron.
2. Don't be too impatient in letting your hair iron cool down on its own after using it. Don't cool it before an air conditioner because it could damage the iron in the long run. What happens when you do this is that only the surface will feel cooled. In reality the inside of the iron will remain hot. Because of the cool casing and hot interior, there could be moisture in your iron, eventually rusting it. It will also be very dangerous to plug it in.
3. Keep hair irons in a dry, neat place where it will be free from any moisture. The box in which the hair iron is placed upon purchase is also perfect for storing. Just be sure to place the box somewhere dry. Also make sure that the wires are tucked in properly.
4. When storing hair irons, don't wind the length of wire too tightly. Make sure that the thick, protective rubber connecting the wire to the iron is not stretched too tightly; otherwise the rubber will wear out fast. In worse cases the wire might even be detached from the body of the iron.
