Transformers 2 - The Revenge Begins
In the present day, two years after the events of the previous film, Optimus is seen leading NEST, a military organization consisting of human troops and his own team of Autobots (including newcomers Arcee, Chromia, Elita One, Sideswipe, Jolt, and the twins Skids and Mudflap) aimed at killing the remaining Decepticons on Earth.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an American science fiction action film released on June 19, 2009 in the United Kingdom and June 24, 2009 in North America, and was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20, 2009. The plot revolves around Sam, who has been having visions of Cybertronian symbols, getting hunted by the evil Decepticons under the orders of their long-trapped leader, The Fallen. The Fallen seeks to get revenge on Earth by finding and activating a machine that would provide the Decepticons with an energon source, destroying all life on the planet in the process.
As a promotional strategy, the producers had sold the 17 foot Bumblebee model at an auction. It was expected to fetch up to $80,000. Bids had to be made over the internet or phone. Alongside were a number of Megan Fox outfits and over 100 props from the Transformers movies.
Despite being panned by movie critics, Revenge of the Fallen achieved the highest Wednesday opening gross in history, bringing in $62 million in North America and close to $100 million worldwide; this is also the second-highest opening day gross of all time, behind only The Dark Knight's $67.8 million. With excellent performances by Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson, the movie takes you through the journey of Sam Witwicky and the Autobots, who try to save the world from disruption.
