Choosing Proper Bridal Party Favors

By Charlene Jameson
Nov 7, 2009
Bridal party favors are an essential part of making a bridal shower memorable and special for everyone invited. Though they may seem small and insignificant, the party favors can make an already perfectly-planned celebration all that more memorable, and the soon-to-be-bride will be elated that you put so much effort into it. It's very important that you do not get lost in all the buzz of party planning and forget the party planning: they are just as important as the decorations and the bride's gifts, so plan them out carefully.

Make sure that you theme the bridal party favors to match with the theme of the shower itself. If you do this, it will be much easier for you to decide on which favors to choose and give out. A more intimately themed party would not be the best time to give out things like lip gloss or cute playing cards, but a less serious party would be. There are literally thousands of different favors on shelves, so you have plenty of resources to choose the perfect favors. Decide on them second to last, right before sending out the invitations. That way you are completely prepared.

Be bold and creative when trying to decide. The bridal shower industry is booming and there is almost no limit to the cute, clever, and sexy things you can choose from. For example, mini purse-shaped manicure sets are always a welcome party gift, as are customized scented soaps and candles. There are the less traditional gifts as well, such as tea light holders, personalized cake or muffin mixes, and coasters that are always popular.

Don't go overboard with the bridal party favors. Though giving out small and thoughtful gifts to everyone at the celebration is exciting, the focus of everyone's attention should remain on the bride. The bridal party is for and about her, so try to keep your favors our of the spotlight to ensure she is the main event. If you absolutely can't keep yourself from "showering" everyone with lots and lots of gifts, go out of your way to give all that and more to the bride herself. You can make her feel special in any number of ways, just try not to cross the line into impeding on her spotlight.

It's imperative that every bit of the bridal shower goes just as planned. If you can work out a way that highlights both your hard work and the bride's upcoming wedding at once, you will have done a good job of pulling it all together and making the event as memorable as possible. Bridal party favors can completely turn the party from a downer to a great success if you use them properly to your advantage.
