DDS Dentist - A Reliable Modern Dentist

Medical science comprises of many branches and dentistry is one of its many arms. Though dentistry has been in existence since ages, it has never got the advancement in terms of methods and technology as it enjoys presently. Many new gadgets have been invented resulting in the sophistication of dentistry. One has to toil many years to get sound education to be qualified as a dentist. Apart from that internships and practice are indispensable for a dentist. Qualified professionals with either Doctor of Dental Surgery or DDS dentist, Bachelor of Dental Science, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Bachelor of Dentistry, or equivalent are the present day dentists.

In order to become competent for independent practicing, dentists have to undergo post-graduate dentistry studies, post secondary education for many years in most countries. In dentistry, art and science are integrated to improve one's personality. The prime responsibility of every dentist, whether he is a cosmetic dentist, a dental surgeon or any other specialty dentist is to keep your teeth in flawless condition. Perfect condition of teeth consists of naturally white colored, cavity-free, disease-free, gap-free and well-shaped set of teeth. Maintaining such an amazing set is not an easy task. It requires the collective efforts of both the individual and his dentist. DDS dentists are professionally qualified, competent doctors who are equipped to help you in your struggle to get such an ideal set of teeth.

A person has to go through minimum three years of undergraduate education for earning a DDS. Some of the dental schools ask for a bachelor's degree as minimum qualification. Out of the four year course, two years are meant for basic medical and dental sciences and two for clinical training. Apart from this, some prescribed examinations are to be successfully completed. The first part of the curriculum consists of physiology, biochemistry, pathology, occlusion, microbiology, dental anatomy and anatomic sciences.

Students study pedodontics, operative dentistry, oral pathology, orthodontics, radiology, prosthodontics, pain control, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery and pharmacology in the next two years. Majority of the students straightaway start with practice after completing graduation. Further studies are opted by very few number of students.

In order to practice independently, licensing exam has to be passed by the dentist. After this, another regarding ethics has to be undertaken. Once all these are cleared, a dentist becomes lawfully eligible for practice. DDS dentists are to pursue continuing education to maintain the license and also to remain abreast of the technological advancements happening regularly.
