A Quick Guide To Formentera
Formentera is the smallest Balearic Island it's 13 miles long, 35 miles squared, and is home to around seven thousand souls. It's by far one of the most beautiful places on earth. Set against a sky blue back drop it's dusty little roads meander to some of the most amazing beaches you will ever see.
Formentera is only a stone throw away from Ibiza, but the white beaches and the turquoise sea give you this relaxed magic Caribbean feeling. It's like being in another world. A world where you can get away from the madness that can sometimes consume Ibiza.
Formentera is mostly flat and small in size and its never far between towns and beaches. The best way to get around the island is by moped. There's no better way to travel down it's dusty lanes. The best way to get there is by chartering a boat and then you arrive at Formenteras best bits - it's white sandy beaches that stretch for miles.
Formentera is very popular with the glitterati and the 'wet set'so make sure you bring your camera. They prefer to eat at the beach restaurants where Lobster can be as expensive as 150 a plate. I heard rumor that a lot of the sea food is imported from Scotland!
I can't recommend this island highly enough to you. If you ever find yourself on Ibiza please make the effort to go. Go for it's beaches it's scenery it's tranquility. I'd go between May and Oct and I'd stay clear of August - that's when it gets too crowded.
Finally I would recommend that you go and see the island by boat. They are cheaper than you think and there are many options to choose from. Just ask one of the search engines.
