What Is A Large Dry Erase Board?
Not sure how to utilize a large dry erase board to further profits and motivate your employees? Check out story below to see just how useful they can be.
Dave was the operations manager at a steadily-growing company. His responsibilities mainly revolved around motivating the employees and sales representatives who would be out on the road. Every day Dave would make a copy of the sales of the day before and put the chart up on the break room wall. His manager brought up using a large dry erase board to display the stats, like the kind she used at home to leave notes for her kids. Dave thought a spreadsheet was better, because he liked lists of stats and didn't care for messy markers and erasers.
Later that day, the sales representatives would start coming back in from the road. Some were glum, some were cheery, but all of them were tired. Dave noticed that many of them didn't even bother going into the break room. Since they were on the road all day, they probably had lunch at a fast-food joint or restaurant with a client. They had all had a long day, and even though Dave told them to check the stats every afternoon, they were too tired to try to read it. Whenever they actually did look at the stats, they often had to huddle up around it just to see what it said. Dave thought about getting a large dry erase board instead. The bigger writing area might make it more bearable for them to read.
Dave purchased the large dry erase board from an online office supply retailer. They sent it out the day he ordered it and it got to the office only two days later. He immediately noticed that the markers weren't smelly and messy as he had thought. He had thought his hands would get messy, but now he thought differently. He made rows and columns just like he was used to doing with his spreadsheet, and used different colors for each statistic.
Dave was a stat-writing wizard with his new dry erase board. He put it in plain sight, and noticed that his sales reps were becoming eager to compete with each other and get their numbers up. He also saved a large amount of money on ink and paper. His staff no longer needed to struggle to see their stats, and everyone was able to see the information very clearly.
Sales started to increase as the sales reps used the large dry erase board as a sort of scoreboard, and they were competing among themselves and motivating each other. Once Dave added a second board to show stats from another competing branch, he realized not only was he providing information in a better way. He was increasing employee morale.
