Why Leg Weight Exercises Pay Off

By Ted Marion

Just about everyone who works out understands the importance of working different muscle groups when it comes to strength building. A well balanced body, and one that's evenly distributed, is the healthiest and most appealing kind.

Many people spend more time on their chests than on their back muscles, and their body ends up looking out of whack as a result. Others may put too much emphasis on their shoulders, and shirts will fit them awkwardly.

Despite this all, people still seem to neglect the legs for some reason. While it's true that it's probably one of the more excruciating and physically demanding weight lifting workouts, paying attention to the legs goes a very long way.

There are many reasons that it makes sense to work out the legs just as much as any other muscle group, if not more. For starters, many people develop "chicken legs" when their upper body is noticeably bigger than their lower body. All that hard work you spent sculpting your body can go to waste if something looks off!

There are a number of reasons that it may not make sense to neglect your legs, but here are some reasons that you should. Endorphins are critical to your overall well being, and working out your legs will activate them. These will naturally lift your spirits.

If you've ever felt a buzz after a good workout or a long run, it's most likely endorphins at work. The best way to activate these endorphins is through working out your legs at the gym.

There are some great benefits to leg training if you play sports. You'll be faster, you'll have more endurance, and your legs will be stronger. Stronger legs also happen to contribute to upper body strength, so don't be fooled if your intended sport doesn't involve much running.

There are clearly many benefits to lifting weights for your legs, and I hope this article serves as a motivator if you're struggling to work them into your rotation.
