Secrets Of Cover Letter Templates - Getting The Interview!

It's a well known fact that first impressions count. Whether it be in a first glance or a first word spoken or in a first word written, we decide what we like or dislike within the first few seconds of any experience. This they say is a survival tactic which was used from the dawn of man and has evolved with modern man. Finding a job is also about survival and having the edge can make or break your hunt. To this end our resumes cannot be unaccompanied. Good cover letter templates might just be the answer to your success.

The hard task of looking for a job can take it's toll on us as, we are subjected to all sorts of people who reject us and don't care what becomes of us. Unfortunately job hunting has become a dog-eats-dog playground in which you are the unsuspecting player.

You could have the best looking resume out there, but if your introduction letter does not intrigue the reader, then I am afraid your resume will land in a basket called "shred".

One way you could speed up the process, is by using a template that has already written a letter for you. It's quick and easy and you can send out multiple applications in no time. Fine, there's nothing wrong in principle with this idea, but unfortunately these types of templates are what we call generic, and have shallow dull sentences that say absolutely nothing about you or your uniqueness.

What's more your cover letter ought to be short and ooze with originality. If you allow yourself to do this, your changes are so much better to obtain an interview. Bottom line - don't opt for a generic cover letter spinner. Rather go for the one that can give you guidance within your industry.

Here are a couple of pointers that could come in handy while searching for a good template:

Firstly, make sure that it optimizes your time management. You cannot spend hours learning how to use the template. It must be user friendly and visually pleasing. If you settle for the many generic ones on the market, you are setting yourself up for many rejections.

Secret number one: The hiring people know exactly what a generic template looks like and when they spot it, they use it as a way to gauge the applicant's personality. They will not call you for an interview because you did not show individuality.

Another secret that will count in your favor; is before you send in your resume, please make sure your language use is good. Check for spelling errors and make sure your grammar is perfect. Again the hiring managers check for attention to detail and if there is none in your letter - sorry they will not hire you.

You don't have to re-invent the wheel so to speak. Technology is here for us and we should learn to use it to our advantage. There are many really good cover letter templates out there which will be effective in giving you the edge. Search for those that know your industry and can trigger the correct response, which will give you your interview!
