Age spots are grey, black or brown spots that appear on the neck, hands, shoulders, face, arms and forehead because of exposure to the sun. These spots are also known as liver spots or solar lentigines and can occur at any age. The good news is that age spots are harmless and don't require medical care. For cosmetic reasons, you can use various creams and lotions to remove age spots.

Use sunscreen creams every day. These creams reduce the color intensity of dark and age spots, giving you blemish-free skin. Moreover, applying a sunscreen lotion daily will help you prevent the appearance of fade dark, age, and liver spots. Also, it's very important to protect your skin from sun exposure. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and tops with long sleeves.

If you already have age spots, using sunscreen creams helps you prevent the occurrence of new spots. Choose a quality sunscreen cream and apply it 10-15 minutes before going out. If you plan to spend most of the day outdoors, use a more powerful cream. And because water and sweat can remove the cream, make sure you apply it regularly.

Apple cider vinegar contains many vital minerals and trace elements, being a wonderful natural cure for many diseases and conditions. Mix it with onion juice and apply the composition on the areas affected by liver spots. The skin appearance will be drastically improved. If you want to remove age spots faster, drink a cup of apple cider vinegar diluted in water twice a day. Add honey, if necessary.

Aloe Vera is one of the most effective cures for age spots and hyperpigmentation. Rub fresh Aloe Vera juice or gel on the age spots to fade them. Do it twice a day.

Using lemon juice is the best way to lighten age spots and freckles. The citric acid in lemons makes this fruit one of the strongest natural skin lightening remedies. Apply a slice of lemon to the affected areas for ten minutes, several times a day.

Castor oil proved to be extremely beneficial for people with bladder and vaginal infections, age spots, hyperactivity, hepatitis, upper respiratory infections, sebaceous cysts, alopecia, abdominal stretch marks and skin keratosis. Apply castor oil on the spots in the morning and in the evening.

Creams with retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, are can be used to reduce age spots intensity. These creams stimulate the development of new skin cells. For a stronger effect, mix them with bleaching solutions such as hydroquinone. The disadvantage is given by the fact that retinol may have an aggressive effect on certain types of skin (darker skin tones). If a hydroquinone formula is used, it is imperative that the treated area is completely protected from the sun.

Make sure you follow a healthy diet rich in fruits, seeds, whole grains and green vegetables. This will help you fade age spots and reduce hyperpigmentation. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and eat foods containing glycolic and citric acids, vitamins C and PP and beta-carotene.

Eat tomatoes, peaches, strawberry, raspberry, peas, cucumbers, lemons, peaches, apples, grapes, plums, apricots and eggplant. Grapefruits, papaya and pineapples contain a significant amount of glycolic acid- an effective depigmentant.
