Do You Know How to Choose a Venue for Your Wedding?

Aug 18, 2007
When you decide to get married, the first thing you have to think about is certainly the wedding day. In fact, you cannot just think of a date and set it as the wedding day. You have to check the availability of venues. It will be a pity if you would like to book a venue and it has been booked by the others on your wedding day. To this end you need to have a rough idea about your venue for your wedding ceremony or reception.

The very first thing you need to consider is the size of the wedding venue. Some may have a perception that a bigger venue will be more perfect. However, it is not true in the real world. A bigger venue usually means a higher budget. Even if the budget is not something essential to you, there is no point to have a venue which can accommodate 300 guests if you only plan to invite 100 guests.

As a result the size of the wedding venue should be determined by the number of guests you are planning to invite. It would do no harm to you if you book a venue which can accommodate 130 guests while you are planning for inviting 100 guests only. A buffer is always good since you may change your mind to invite some more guests when you are planning for your wedding. It should not be difficult to gather information on how many guests a wedding venue can accommodate. You can just ask this information from the management department of the venues.

Besides of the size of the venue, you may also need to think about the type of wedding venue you would like to book. The ambiance of a wedding venue is different from venue to venue. A church will be perfect in most cases. In some other cases you may want to book a ballroom or hall in a hotel for your wedding. However, if you want something more unique and interesting, there are still some other choices.

A wedding on a train is one of the examples. A wedding during a train travel can be a very romantic one. And this may probably impress the guests very much. There are wedding planning companies which can organize wedding on a train adventure.

What is interesting about a wedding in a train journey is that you can have beautiful scene along the journey. You and your guest can enjoy your wedding and at the same time enjoy the scenery along the journey. You may also take this journey again in your anniversaries which can be quite a romantic experience. Some places that you can have your wedding on a train are California, Maui and Arizona.

If you would like an outdoor wedding, a very popular choice will be a beach wedding. It is interesting that a beach wedding can be less formal. This will probably suit a couple who does not want an extremely formal wedding. Guests can walk on the beach with their bare foot. Even the wedding dress and gown can be less formal.

Similar to a wedding on a train, your guests can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the beach. And it will be even more perfect if your wedding is taken place on a sunny day. The blue sky and water, with some birds, will form a romantic and beautiful background for your wedding.

Another issue you need to consider is the restrictions from the venue. You may have a dream venue in your mind. You may dream of a wedding venue full of fresh flowers. You may also like an open flame for your wedding. Some venue will not allow you to do these. You should ask the venue what you can do and what you cannot since the restrictions vary from venue to venue.

One last point you need to think about, and maybe the most important one, is the extra fees you may need to pay for. Some venues may charge you an extra if you bring your own liquor to the venue. Some venues may even have a cake cutting fee. Again, you should ask for all this beforehand so that you will not need to pay for something you do not need to pay for originally.
