Pop Goes The Pimple - Don't Do It

Aug 18, 2007
Many people needlessly suffer from acne and pimples because of a lack of knowledge or understanding. By their mid-teens, nearly 35% of teenagers have acne or pimples severe enough to require some type of treatment from a medical professional. While most forms of acne and pimples are merely troublesome or embarrassing, there are some forms of acne that can lead to scarring and pitting of the skin.

Numerous studies have revealed that pimples and acne is not simply a problem of the young; it also afflicts people of many ages, and can severely affect their daily lives. For most people, acne and pimple go away by age 30, but people in their forties and fifties still suffer from them. The most common pimples are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Nearly eighty percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back.

Doctors think there are certain factors might cause or contribute to acne including hormone increases in teenage years, hormone changes in pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, heredity, medicines and greasy make-up. I think the cause of acne may be related to our acidic, inflammatory 'standard American diet' (SAD) and that would also influence all of our hormones including stress hormones. Make sure to check your shampoo to make sure it isn't causing pimples or other breakouts on your forehead.

Use papaya and its seeds for exfoliating. Popping pimples can cause infection and scarring; you don't want to do it. Try a diligent application of coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime for a few days to see if it has any healing benefits for you.

Make sure to stay out of the sun if you're taking any acne medications but get some sun if you are not. Never underestimate the healing, restorative power of a restful night's sleep. Acne, pimples and their treatment is one of the most misunderstood topics there is when it comes to acne skin care.

One treatment method some people have used successfully, they say, is applying cornstarch, egg whites or milk of magnesia as a facial mask. And coconut oil is very inexpensive; it's a good, cheap, natural home remedy. Use only products that have natural ingredients or try to use fewer acne and skin care products to allow your skin to heal naturally.

Raw apple cider vinegar application to the skin is a cheap, alternative acne treatment that has worked for many adults, teens and children with acne, zits, pimples, or blemishes - get the healthy Bragg's brand. You definitely want to avoid squeezing, pinching, picking or popping your pimples because it can cause scars or leave dark spots on your skin. Too many chemicals can strip the skin of its natural oils and the skin will overproduce oil to compensate for it, blocking your pores and causing more acne.

A new, non-invasive treatment using red light and blue light combined has been extremely successful on severe acne. Coconut oil is one of the best, if not the best, treatments I've found for acne and pimples - you can try it for a few days to see if it helps or not.

To cure yourself of pimples and acne, you need to try to correct the problems going on inside of your body that are causing the problem. Besides external acne treatment it's even more important to work from the inside out. In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it's chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet alone will be the best treatment you can do for your acne and you will achieve overall good health in the process.

When your liver gets overloaded with toxins it'll send the toxins out through your skin as well as through other organs of elimination. When you change your diet, your pimples or lesions should start getting better within a week or two, with significant improvement the first month.

Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements in liquid form every day. Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, soaked overnight to release enzyme inhibitors, raw seeds, and fresh or dried fruit, like dates, and figs. Get plenty of sun exposure on your arms and legs; sunshine triggers the production of Vitamin D3 which is essential to having healthy skin.

The two most common digestive concerns that can affect your skin are not enough water and not enough fiber. Use a good virgin olive oil with a little very fresh, refrigerated flaxseed oil in your salads.

Now you don't have to be one of the unlucky ones left behind because of a lack of knowledge about acne and pimples. There are many pimple and acne products on the market today, some are good, some are cheap and some are not good or cheap; no one knows but you what will work for you. Acne prevention is always a better choice than having to search for the right cure for you.
