How To Prevent A Pollen Allergy From Developing Due To Your Own Landscape

Aug 18, 2007
If you have a pollen allergy, then you should look around your surrounding landscape at home and in your neighbourhood. Having a pollen allergy can be hard to deal with; you may even need to stay indoors. There are many species of plant that will give off pollens and fertilize. You will want to consider about the many plants that will also cross-pollinate and fertilize its seeds to other locations. One example is the dandelion weed. You will observe that they will turn to seed quickly and then spread through the air naturally.

When you breathe in the air containing many of these pollens, the allergens can irritate your nose. Your eyes can become watery and begin to itch badly. You may find yourself having to take medications to prevent wheezing and other respiratory problems.

Other than looking at the landscape at home, take a peek at the local trees from the neighborhood homes as well and see if they could be causing you a problem. Although you cannot do anything about what is already been done outside your home, you will still want to think about what you can do for yours. It may also be that you need to redo your home landscaping so as to reduce your pollen allergy symptoms. In this case, obviously, you will not be able to redo the landscaping on your own. It is best to get a landscaping contractor for this job or you may just end up with a full blown pollen allergy attack.

There is a chemical makeup of pollen that will allow you to have hay fever. Not all plants will give you hay fever. Trees like pine are heavy in pollen, however, it does not really spread easily. So pine over maple trees are good considerations.

Hence, for landscaping, you need to find out what plants or trees can cause you pollen allergy problems. Either spend some time doing some research or ask your landscaping contractor to help you. It is better to know what plants or trees you can safely plant right from the start as uprooting them may cost you more problems and costs later on.

Needless to say, if you are thinking of buying a new home, give your pollen allergy some thought. It is important that you consider the different types of plants that are in the local area. Check out your local park and the neighbourhood and see if you are going to be affected by a pollen allergy by moving in there.
