The term acne is commonly used for 'plugged pores', pimples and deeper lumps that occur on the neck, face, chest, shoulders and upper arms. It is seen that acne problem is usually faced by teenagers. It is commonly found on the face as well as arms. However, there is no specific age to have acne. From a teenager to an adult, anyone can have acne. Acne on the arms is one of the most widespread skin disorders.

Most of the people have acne on their face. However, it is also quite usual to have acne on the arms. Acne not only mar the physical beauty of the person but also lead to mental tension because of the fear of developing permanent scars. Approximately half of the acne sufferers have lesions on the arms and face. As in the case of face, the arms also have hair follicles that are well connected to the oil secreting glands. These glands usually get blocked due to the dead skin and oil leading to the occurrence of acne.

People who dress up in tight fit clothing and individuals who profusely sweat are at a higher risk of developing acne on the arms. The prime reason responsible for the occurrence of acne is the fact that tight clothing causes friction that leads to irritation. The problem of acne on arms is more common in certain individuals.

The remedy for arm acne is more or less the same as facial acne. To keep away acne, it is necessary to wear proper fit clothes and also to change the clothes on a daily basis. The acne sufferers must have shower after workout and keep their arms clean. It is not advisable for such people to keep long hair as they tend to touch the upper arm giving rise to acne.

To get rid of arm acne, it is best to apply the ointment prepared from benzyl peroxide on the affected area of the skin. It is quite useful in cleaning the body and also ensures that the skin remains dry. The acne sufferers must wash their arms with a bland soap. It is not recommended to scrub the affected area of the skin as it can aggravate the problem.

If nothing seems to work, it is advisable to visit a dermatologist and seek medical advice. There are various medications to cure the problem of acne. The antibiotics as well as retinoids are useful in treating acne on the arms. As far as the drugs are concerned, there are topical and oral formulations available to cure acne on the arms.
