4 Thoughts To Effectively Manage Your Anger

Oct 13, 2007
Anger is a very commonly used word isn't it? Anger is also a very common human emotion, and is experienced by everyone at some point or other. This emotional condition of the mind is subjective to the person that's experiencing it, and varies with intensity depending on the situation and on the person. Anger can be measured from mild irritability to absolute rage! Once you are in anger mode, the body undergoes temporary biological and physical changes.

Like every other emotional state of the mind, unless anger is controlled it can control you. Unfortunately most people never do learn to curb their anger. It is therefore important to realize methods of canalizing your anger into constructive avenues, so it cause no harm to you or to those around you, either physically or emotionally.

Here are a few methods that could help you manage that anger:

1. Life does have its ups and downs, and anger is an accompanying emotion when the "downs" arrive. It is not uncommon to feel anger. What you could do however is not dwell over everything that has gone wrong in your life. By doing this you invite only more anger, and that's not a very healthy state for a person to be in. Inviting anger can never be constructive, so try and not think about issues that anger you. Sounds simple doesn't it? Maybe it is!

2. Anger can also be aimed at one self, and this is probably the most important form of anger, as it is self-destructive. Do not waste your time being angry with yourself. Instead, think positively and try and not make the same mistakes over and over in life. When you forgive yourself, you take the first step to becoming more in tune with the inner you, and that's a sure path to success.

3. You are who knows yourself the best. You know what situations make you angry so do try and avoid letting those situations happen in the first place. If you find yourself in one of those situations, get yourself out of there. Similarly, you know best about what calms you down when you are angry, and that's something we all could work towards to get that anger under control.

4. People who have mastered life do know well that if you do not control your emotions your emotions will get in control of you. So try and manage your anger so that its outcome, even when it does show up, is not destructive. In rare cases anger can even be used for positive effects. If you learn to control your anger, you are well on your way to a more successful life.
