They Are Fragile - Moving Supplies for Dishes

Oct 14, 2007
When you plan to move to a new place you always prefer to pack materials that are easy to handle such as toys, blankets, clothes etc. These items easily fit in a box and you don't have to worry about them breaking during shift. Even for heavy or larger item everything is set in place for example you have a mattress pad for your mattress which protects it from dirt, dust etc, you have a prefect packing filled with Styrofoam for your television set, You are all set to stretch wrap refrigerators, cupboards, stove etc. What about the fragile items?

Fragile items such as glass, antiques, fine glass etc are to be packed with utmost care. For this purpose use moving supplies which you can buy easily. Moving supplies gives both easy handling and protection to fragile items. Below are some suggestions to help you get through with moving your dinning wares.

Special designed boxes are types of moving supplies used for dishes. There are generally two types of box: dish barrel box or a glass box. Included in twenty-eight inch tall dish barrel box are handle openings to allow lifting easily. A glass box is pre-partitioned to avoid any contact between different glass items. These boxes are available in different sizes so make sure that you get small sized boxed for heavy weight dishes or stack of dishes.

The moving supplies for dishes come with foam and cardboard dividers. Both are thin sheets that are to put in-between stacks of china dishes plates to allow contact that can cause damage to either one of them. The pre-partitioned boxes for tall glasses have a grid-like pattern. The dividers are either already fitted or have proper places for user to easily fit them. There are wine glass cell kits also available whose bottom cardboard sheet is fitted with grids that allows user to stack grids that are already filled one on the top of the other in large boxes. This again helps in protecting fragile by avoiding contact between fragile items.

Other types of moving supplies use brown paper, heavier tissue paper or bubble wrap for wrapping china dinner plates and glass. If you don't have enough money to buy these wrapping papers you can always use magazines or newspaper; but remember that newspaper can leak their ink onto a glass surface.

You may also want to consider Styrofoam packing peanuts for your dinner ware. But packing your glass and other fragile items with just Styrofoam packing peanuts is not always advisable. You should use this only when your items are pre-wrapped with something else.

These are some of the suggestion. You may want to search about other types of moving supplies. You search using Internet, through magazines, moving companies or ask local packaging provider.
