Perseverance - Necessary For Success

Oct 25, 2007
Everyone must have heard the story of the tortoise and the rabbit at least once in their childhood. This childhood fable was to suggest the moral that slow and steady wins the race. Yes, to become a winner one needs to be steady in her/his approach. Perseverance and persistence are required in one's actions as they are a sure shot way to success. If God were lazy to try, he would never ever have created the universe out of an abyss. Similarly, if human beings had not been daring enough to try endlessly, they would have not been able to create a world with so many scientific advancements. The rule of perseverance says that even if you fail nineteen times, try for the twentieth. One should not give up and feel depressed as hard work and perseverance decide the happiness of success.

To succeed in life, one needs to work hard. Each and every individual has certain dreams and aspirations in life, for which he plans his life. Such goals and targets give meaning to human life, and their achievements fulfill the condition of human existence. But success comes to few and one may surely ask, why? Success comes to those who continuously move ahead toward their goals with strong determination. Keeping a positive attitude towards life is also a kind of perseverance. One needs to have loads of optimism for being persevering towards his/her goals. Perseverance is the quality that every human must have, if he wishes to achieve those levels of success that he has established for himself. It is a human virtue, which relies heavily upon human endurance. Patience and endurance are synonyms of perseverance.

God made man powerful like Him but he was thrown out of paradise because he had lost his patience, and become a sinner. God led man on earth to make him realize that he had chosen a wrong path; he punished man by taking away all luxuries of paradise to make him realize that he had committed a sin. But man proved his loyalty to God by bearing the punishment given to him with the help of perseverance. He accepted all punishments sentenced by God in the form of fever, death and natural calamities. Not only that, he continuously worked toward his goal of saving himself from such natural havocs that took hundreds and thousands of lives in a second. He studied and scrutinized the natural phenomena and came up with several methods to save himself. Though it is true there are times when nature overpowers scientific development of human beings, yet we have come a long way since the age when candles were used to light a dark room. Remember, it was only perseverance that made a bulb glow.

Human perseverance has helped to create equipment which shields humans from chilly winters and burning summers. This has been possible only because of strong determination of the great scientists of the human world. Thomas Addison and John Graham Bell were two scientists, who laid the foundation stone of this new hi-tech world. John Graham Bell was himself deaf but he invented the radio and telephone. Who would have ever thought it would be possible to chat with a person sitting as far as in London? It was only his strong will power and unshakable determination that brought him the success he believed was his.

Successful people have their own individual stories but what every one has in common is perseverance and strong determination. Success requires strength of character. In other words, only a strong character can have a success story. If you continuously try to achieve what you have dreamt of you are surely going to succeed one day. Think of any successful personality from any field, and you will find that strong determination and loads of optimism have been the elements of his/her spirits. If one wants to become successful in life, one needs to develop patience and perseverance since success does not come easily to anybody.

Success makes people work hard so that they can achieve it. For becoming successful, each and every one has to go through an ordeal. This ordeal is basically the phase during which the person faces endless failures, and dejection overpowers him. The reason for dejection is solely the inability to achieve the desired goal. At this moment, a person must carefully analyze his next step because dejection pulls him away from his goals. At this moment, he must decide to move on and not sit back complacently with the burden of failure. Being complacent is a negative sign for a fighter. A fighter must persistently move ahead towards his goal, and this persistence is called perseverance. Determination can shake mountains. This is the one-liner of those who have tasted the fruit of success because they know striving continuously for your goals is the only way to achieve them.
