Patio Furniture Cushions - They Make For A Comfortable Outdoor Experience

Oct 25, 2007
As you create a backyard paradise at your house, you may be amazed at the number of patio furniture pieces on the market today. There are options for any style and theme you can imagine that you want to create in your backyard. But before you buy, you need to scrutinize one part of these items, the patio furniture cushions.

Two words should fit when you purchase patio furniture cushions - durability and comfort.

While you may buy the most beautiful furniture, if the patio furniture cushions start retaining dirt, or become mildew-riddled, they are going to take away from the whole picture of this entertainment space you have created.

The first thing you need to make sure of is that the patio furniture cushions you are considering are mildew resistant. This is especially important if you live in a more humid climate. Next you should make sure that the cushions are easy to clean. Many have covers that can be taken off and thrown in a washing machine. These are a great way to be able to keep those patio furniture cushions looking like new. In many cases you can even purchase more than one style of cushion covers so you can change the whole look of your patio furniture without buying a whole new set. This is also useful if one set of the covers start to look a little dingy. Instead of having to replace the whole furniture set, you can just change the patio furniture cushions covers and make it all look brand new once again.

If your furniture is near a pool or hot tub, you should look for patio furniture cushions that are waterproof. It will inadvertently happen where someone who was just in the water is going to take a seat on one of those patio furniture cushions. This should be something they can handle, instead of something that causes you strife.

While many patio furniture cushions look great from a distance, once you are sitting on them the story may be very different. Many of these patio furniture cushions are not something you would want to sit on for a long period it time. If you are serving meals or expect to spend a lot of time enjoying this setting, you need to test out the patio furniture cushions before you subject your guests to them. Sit in them. Feel if the cushion moves with you at all, or if it feels unyielding and rock-hard. That will become painful on the backside over time. These cushions are an extension of your house, so they should be somewhat comfortable and inviting and not making your guests try to think of reasons they have to leave early.

Choosing the best patio furniture cushions for your yard is not something to take on lightly. Quality patio furniture is costly, but if you choose the right pieces that work for your yard, and will hold up to the test of time, they will be worth their weight in gold in the outdoor entertaining days, months, and years to come.
