Several Tips To Choose A Satellite TV

Nov 9, 2007
Would you like to have the main differences between cable, satellite and regular or analog TV sorted out? Let's take the bull by the horns and get down to the nitty-gritty!

The main difference between satellite TV and regular TV is the quality of picture that you view on your TV screen. Satellite TV uses a greater number of pixels and, therefore, the resolution and clarity of the picture is far superior to analog TV.

The one disadvantage of satellite TV is that poor weather conditions have an effect of your TV reception. If there is a bad thunderstorm in the area, then the satellite signal weakens and you may find that you are looking at either a blank or fuzzy screen!

Have any or you become disillusioned and even disenchanted with your cable TV system? Many people seem to be weighted down by the prohibitive cost of restrictive plans, have become entangled in yards and yards of coaxial cables and even get channels that they probably never even think of watching.

Satellite providers do not have to worry about paying taxes that have been levied by the local governments. Therefore, satellite TV customers get a much better deal for their money.

Satellite TV has a low package deal that outshines cable's low-end package. Cable companies are trying to replace their outdated lines of cable with new technology. This will prove to be quite expensive, and guess who the cost will be passed on to? You guessed it - the cable consumer! Satellite companies do charge fees for each room you set up to receive the signal but you are allowed to have up to four rooms set up for free! Some cable companies charge a per room set-up fee as well.

Satellite TV offers both east and west coast feeds and their sports stations are really geared toward the avid sports enthusiasts. Many times the consumer can choose which game to watch!

Cable TV offers a counter offer by offering a low budget plan for about $20. These TV goers are mainly interested in the good reception and could care less about the 500 - channel universe!

If someone does not want digital programming, then cable is the way to go because for regular cable all you need is a TV. If a person wishes to go digital, then satellite and cable are very similar.

Satellite needs to have a clear view of the southern sky in order to receive signals. Renters may be at a disadvantage here. Homeowners also have to install a dish to the roof or a side wall.

Cable can only reach as far as their infrastructure allows. Satellite, on the other hand, has the whole southern sky. Therefore, you may find cable companies that do not reach all homes.

Regarding digital, HDTV and DVRs cable and satellite run about neck and neck. Some satellite companies require that you purchase the DVR and HD box. Cable companies lease their equipment for a monthly charge. There is an advantage of purchasing a receiver because all of those charges month after month ad up.

Hopefully, the differences as well as similarities have been outlined for you among cable, regular TV and satellite TV. If you are looking to make a switch, you may want to ponder these things seriously before deciding which service to go with.
