Health Benefits Of A Walk-In Tub

Nov 25, 2007
We all know the relaxing benefits of a long, leisurely soak in the tub after a hard day. Nothing is more restful than a bath when we are ill and a cool soak helps to reduce fever.

A walk-in tub offers all of this and so much more. The walk-in tub is designed with many safety features that come standard, such as skid-proof seating and floor, grab bars, and an anti-scald water mixing valve that prevents the water from getting any hotter than the preset temperature setting.

The walk-in tub has air propelled jets. This type of jets, rather than the high pressure water propelled jets, is safe for older, more fragile or sensitive skin.

Those who would normally not be able to use a Jacuzzi can safely withstand extended periods of time in the water massage. The water is kept at a steady temperature that will not increase and cause over-heating for those at risk due to heart disease. It has been proven to help to reduce the pain and stiffness of arthritis and to relieve muscle strain.

The walk-in tub also helps to restore emotional balance by calming and relaxing frayed nerves and exhausted bodies. It can help to alleviate insomnia and reduce high blood pressure. The swirling, warm water aids in the elimination of impurities from the body through the skin.

Some of the other health benefits associated with the walk-in tub are the increase in blood circulation and the reduction of varicose veins. Studies have shown that the pulsating flow of the water helps to alleviate the symptoms of bladder and urinary disease. It also found that the pain and discomfort of menstrual cramps can be reduced by the walk-in tub.

Unlike a Jacuzzi, the walk-in tub drains completely with each use. It can be wiped clean with disinfectant, which is an added health benefit, especially for those prone to skin irritations and if someone else will be using the tub.

Constructed of high-quality fiberglass, the tub has a contoured seat that is slip-proof, as is the floor. Grab bars come standard in each tub. The enhanced faucet reduces the amount of time required to fill the tub.

A specially designed drain allows the tub to drain more quickly than a regular bath tub. The walk-in tub was designed to fit into a space smaller than a conventional tub. The cost of installation is greatly reduced because the plumbing and drain lines connect to the existing plumbing.

The walk-in tub is low maintenance and will provide many years of enjoyment.
