It is very essential for the supervisor to clearly communicate the goals and expectations of the management to all the members of the staff. Only then will they be able to satisfactorily perform the duties assigned to them. The supervisor also needs to compulsorily take into consideration the expectations of the team members from the management.

Establishing Standards

For any company that aspires to grow and progress, it vital that they set some standards that will enable them to measure and rate the performance of their employees and consequently of their business. The supervisor should make it a point to measure the performance of his team members from time to time, so that the he is aware of the direction in which the company and its employees are heading towards. However, merely setting standards is not enough. The supervisor should also ensure that his team members fully understand and are in agreement with the standards of excellence established for them.


Effective supervision and accountability go hand in hand. Not only are the team members accountable to the supervisor, but also the supervisor should be accountable to himself for his actions and performance in the organization. Accountability will enable the supervisor to keep a more efficient track of the employee performances and a vigilant check on their growth and development as well.
