A Few Amazing But Little Known Secrets About Using Area Rugs

Dec 5, 2007
In many cases today people are returning to the love of hard wood flooring. Many people do still love wall to wall carpeting, but people with children or many pets can find that all over carpeting can be difficult to keep looking great because of constant traffic and staining.

Even when you do not allow eating or drinking in areas where there is carpeting, children will always find a way to make a mess, and let us face it, in homes today we are likely to eat and drink in many rooms. It is impossible to stay on top of things all the time. This is one reason people are using more hardwood and tile floors.

Even though other types of flooring other than carpeting are being used a lot today, people still have a passion for carpeting. If not for all over use, we still want to see some in our homes. The solution is area rugs. They are really popular right now because of people's need to see carpeting somewhere in the home instead of completely naked floors. Area rugs provide a warm cozy look to a large open floor.

One place that area rugs can be used in is entryways. An Area rug that will not show a lot of dirt is handy to use in entryways to catch much of the dirt that can be tracked into the rest of the home. It probably would not be a good idea to use an expensive area rug for this purpose if you have a lot of traffic coming and going and you probably do or you would not need one there.

Many people like the look and feel of a nice area rug in their family room or living room. It does give you a warm, soft surface for bare feet to feel comfortable. It also will provide a little style for the room. Area rugs are used in bedrooms as well for these same reasons.

Smaller area rugs can be good for use in a place like a master bathroom where you might want some carpet covering, but not everywhere. A high grade marine backed indoor-outdoor rug would be ideal for use in a bathroom.

Expensive Persian or other types of nice area rugs have been used for years to provide an elegant in the home long before wall to wall carpeting came along. Many people still love these types of area rugs today.
