Healthy New Years Resolutions Can Be More Powerful Than You Think

Healthy New Years Resolutions can be more powerful than you think. Why? Because humans are allergic to change. That is why many diets fail. People drastically change their routine and they upset the cart. They eventually go overboard, derail the diet and go crazy on powerful food urges. That is why I teach my clients to make small daily changes. Changes that eventually become habits. Humans like habits. They are part of our daily routine. That is why I never dismiss the power of Healthy New Year's Resolutions. It is a chance to start small healthy habits and or eliminate small unhealthy habits.

It has been found that once you do something for 21-28 days consistently you develop a habit that is hard to erase. The secret is not to try to change your entire lifestyle in one day or month. The health secret that I preach year round is to find small healthy practices or habits and implement them as a part of your daily routine. A secondary benefit from these new habits is that you become more confident and happy with yourself that you get to the next level. You are ready to go to the next level!

Your habits do not have to be diet related. They can include exercise, reading twenty minutes a day vs. Television, listening to books on CD in your car on the way to work vs. The radio, or walking for ten to thirty minutes when you get home from work.

Some of the easy to implement healthy habits and ideas I recommend include some of the following:

Drink one to two tablespoons of Organic Apple Cider in 8 ounces of water upon rising. Organic apple cider contains vitamins, beta-carotene, pectin and essential minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, chlorine, sulfur, iron, and fluorine. Apple cider vinegar also contains pectin which is a fiber that helps reduce bad cholesterol and helps in regulating blood pressure. Apple cider vinegar also helps extract calcium from the fruits, vegetables and meat it is mixed with, helping strengthen bones. Potassium deficiency causes a variety of ailments including hair loss, weak finger nails, brittle teeth, sinusitis, and a permanently running nose. Apple cider vinegar is loaded with potassium. Potassium is very essential to the energy producing faculties of the body. Potassium also helps in eliminating toxic waste from the body. Apple cider vinegar is now a component in almost all diet supplements. It helps in breaking down fats and balances weight loss and gain in people. Apple cider vinegar contains malic acid which has fungal and bacterial fighting properties. Malic acid dissolves uric acid deposits around joints, relieving joint pains. Apple cider vinegar is considered beneficial for constipation, headaches, arthritis, weak bones, indigestion, high cholesterol, diarrhea, eczema, sore eyes, chronic fatigue, mild food poisoning, hair loss, high blood pressure, obesity and more!

Replace whole milk on your morning cereal with skim milk. This will save you 60 calories a day and about a half pound of weight loss each month.

Ten minutes of vigorous exercise before you shower for the day. Anything that gets you heart pumping and blood flowing will work. I recommend abdominal crunches, yoga stretches or running in place. The power of just ten minutes, early in the day, gets your metabolism set to burn calories for the rest of the entire day. Vigorous exercise also gets more blood flow to the brain making it easier for you to think in the morning. It just make the day go better!

Add a green superfood to your soy milk smoothie. If you do not like the taste add stevia to sweeten it without adding calories. Much better than white toast, bagels or doughnuts.

Add cayenne to a warm glass of pure water every morning. Cayenne has heart health properties, helps with digestion, helps with constipation and increases your metabolism. Similar to apple cider vinegar, cayenne is beginning to show up in the majority of diet supplements on the shelf. Cayenne also helps with painful joints, improves circulation and has a synergistic effect on other nutrients you take. Cayenne makes all other herbs and supplements work better in the body.

Get proper sleep. Go to sleep at the same time every night. Avoid TV and music right before going to bed. Listen to a meditation CD instead of replaying the days battles in your mind.

Drink a cup of Detox tea every night. Replace an unhealthy sugary snack with a cup of Detox tea or get a mild 15 day cleanse supplement that you can take daily. In today's environment with all of the food based toxins and additives, air and water pollution and stress we all can use a small daily dose of cleansing. You will lose weight, think more clearly and your skin will improve!

You will find if you implement small daily changes they will become habits. Habits you will find you can almost not live without. From these habits you will move on to the next level of healthy habits. It always helps to have a coach or get advice. Have your husband or wife keep you motivated and brainstorm for new healthy habits!
